I don't keep up with J-pop, but I think she's the one of the few solo Japanese females who can consistently go platinum, nevermind double platinum every single time these days.
J-pop legend Namie Amuro debuts at #1 on the weekly Oricon albums chart, which reports the best selling albums in Japan. Her latest studio effort FEEL opens with a first-week total of approximately 248,000 sales, the third highest opening week for any album in Japan this year. The album has also already become the best selling album of the year by any solo artist, having already surpassed high profile releases by artists like Ayumi Hamasaki and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.
