They're trying to protect their jobs. The "Made in Italy" tag is certainly true, but it's often made by underpaid Chinese laborers who go to Italy and end up working in poor conditions such as these, despite living and working in a first world country.

i never really thought about who makes the "made in italy" clothing from designer lines, you just assume everything, including working conditions, are higher quality
