This is awkward because I'm pretty sure Carly Rae Jepsen has actually stated in interviews that she's a fan of La Roux.

Oh my. Yeah, I like La Roux but I'm not sure she is going about this the right way.

La Roux makes my ears hurt and Call Me Maybe makes me bop.

Anyway, I respect Elly's opinion as an artist, and while I may disagree with it, she's made some very good music and can make these kinds of judgements.

Call Me Maybe is a cute song geared towards teens/young people that is doing well. I don't love it or anything but I don't dislike it. Carly's music is harmless.

She's proved time and time again she's a horrible person with terrible opinions.

I respect Elly's opinions and there is some truth to be found within her statements, but as an artist herself she really shouldn't be in any position to judge another artist's music. I doubt she'd appreciate it if another artist made their opinions public on her music. It just looks unprofessional and pretentious. She could of made comment on the current state of radio without referring to any particular song. It would be more acceptable if she did it that way.

I think there is true irony in the fact we want our musicians to act like "real people" but we freak as soon as they state their real opinions on something.

The only problem is that I think she was being reeaaallllyyy dramatic but it's not that bad. She is an adult, can you imagine an adult her age listening to Call Me Maybe & liking it? I can't.

She's not 'butch', she's androgynous

I get it though, unless she's wrapped up in a trendy outfit, singing an overproduced song with overexposed promo and overdone music videos, none of you want anything to do with her.

She'll remain getting rave reviews (76 on Metacritic for a debut, better than Adele, Gaga, Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy, Ke$ha, Christina, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lana Del Rey, Marina, etc.), being highly respected by the British media, earning Mercury Prize nominations, and being highly anticipated by the critical community, and the niche-pop fans.

It's a personal opinion though. I mean I respect where she's coming from but she didn't have to call out Call me maybe. It just makes her seem pretentious and above music in general. Her music is good but it's not all that fantastic and game changing either.
