I think only if they were already a huge name could they achieve that much success with a bubblegum pop track, but definitely not if they were a minor name/newcomer.

Using Wynter Gordon as an example, she has said many times that she had to leave her label because they were forcing her to either be a dance diva or hook singer. They wouldn't let her do other genres because that "isn't what people want to hear from a black singer", according to the label.
