Top 40 Albums of the Decade
Welcome to the first chart for my year-end schedule, the Top 40 Albums of the Decade. This was really hard to compile, but eventually I got it done with lots of revisions and thought. We'll be starting with
#40 - #31, so check it and I appreciate comments.
Andre 3000 - The Love Below (2003)
- Full with diverse bliss, Andre 3000 delivered on his part of the highly successful
Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. Not that Big Boi didn't do his job, but Andre seemed to try to give us something new and different. His weirdness contributes to all the tracks. I remember playing this album non-stop 7th grade year. Just amazing memories!
Top 3 Tracks
1. Prototype
2. Roses
3. Happy Valentine's Day
Usher - Confessions (2004)
- I went through a lot with
Confessions. My damn Mom never turned it off!! And though it did annoy after the first week, the album is pretty good. It's strong R&B, with a # of crunk jams to get you hype for a Saturday night out. A lot of the songs also helped personally at times. Not only being pissed, but also a relaxer if your gf/bf pisses you off. But yeah there he is!
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Superstar
2. Burn
3. Yeah!
Madonna - Music (2001)
- Madge appears for the first time with her
Music album. This was actually my first experience of the Queen of Pop back in the day. I always thought, who is the young looking old lady on TRL. At the time I was clueless this bitch was running the entire Pop game. The album is mixed with surreal pop and disco type stuff, that I absolutely love. Also features my favorite song from her, "What It Feels Like...". Don't judge bitches, it's a very emotional track.
Top 3 Tracks:
1. What It Feels Like For A Girl
2. Don't Tell Me
3. Music
Alicia Keys - The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003)
- Alicia has been all over the decade for me. However
Diary staples itself as Alicia's strongest point. Featuring her best lyrics, best emotions, and best piano work, Alicia truly delivered on this follow up to her rather ****y, gangster R&B debut. It's very much like she blossomed. Never has Alicia hit me so hard with any other album this decade.
Top 3 Tracks:
1. Diary
2. You Don't Know My Name
3. If I Ain't Got You
Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again (2000)
- The Princess of Pop, and my Queen, Britney Spears makes her first appearance of this decade with
Oops!...I Did It Again. The album honestly isn't one of my favorites from her. It starts off strong then ends kind of weak. No wonder she let Max go after while. Despite this, it showed a small hint of maturity from her BOMT days and I liked that.
Top 3 Tracks:
1) Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know
2) Stronger
3) What U See (What U Get)
Black Eyed Peas - Monkey Business (2005)
- The Black Eyed Peas drop in for the first time with their sophomore (by commercial appeal) album,
Monkey Business. Now when I say this was my album, it was my album. Full of rap-pop hits and more of Fergie's delicious vocals, raps, and "Humps"..this was in my CD player most of 2005 and well into 2006. It easily out-beats their previous Elephunk which isn't bad, but ain't that amazing. And I still stand behind "Dum Diddly" being a better single choice than "Pump It"!
Top 3 Tracks:
1) My Humps
2) Don't Phunk with My Heart
3) Dum Diddly
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black (2006)
- The most critical and known album of 2006-2008 from crackhead Amy Winehouse is
Back To Black. To be honest I was ignoring this crazy ****er for the longest. Couldn't stand her. But "Rehab" caught my attention Summer of '07 and I gave her chance. Come to a surprise her album is amazing, set aside the ending un-noticeables. The soul, emotion, and at times funk made me feel like a tripped out *****. Here's to Amy making a comeback!
Top 3 Tracks:
1) Back to Black
2) Tears Dry on Their Own
3) Rehab
Beyoncé - Dangerously In Love (2003)
- Ah, Beyoncé, Beyoncé, Beyoncé. She makes her first, and only, appearance with her debut
Dangerously In Love. I truly feel this was Beyonce at her best. The album flowed so perfectly from the dancy beginning to the soulful R&B middle..to whatever fillers ended the album. But besides the fact, hopefully she can return to the passion of music and not just what will save her from flopping. See ya in the new decade!
Top 3 Tracks:
1) Baby Boy w/Sean Paul
2) Speechless
3) Be With You
Kanye West - Graduation (2007)
- Kanye also makes his first and only appearance with the brilliant
Graduation. Never did I think Kanye would make a short, cohesive album as his first couple were good but the fillers just didn't do it for me. I think this album Ye had a strong will to top himself, and overall he did. Despite this, fix your attitude bitch!
Top 3 Tracks:
1) Champion
2) Good Life w/T-Pain
3) I Wonder
Shakira - Oral Fixation Vol. 2 (2005)
- Shakira makes her first appearance on my list with her 2005 effort
Oral Fixation Vol. 2. It's the second part to a brilliant collection of songs in just the same 5 months. The album features more of Shaki's pop/rock side with her usual weird ass lyrics that I love. Unfortunately the public wasn't very open to this, but **** them. It's an awesome album!
Top 3 Tracks:
1) Animal City
2) Don't Bother
3) How Do You Do
