I've seen this idea before and thought it would be fun to try on ATRL. This may not seem like an appealing idea to those who get around on ATRL (cough *GeezusHaberdash* cough), but to the members of ATRL who aren't social ****s, this idea could be quite appealing
The idea is to have a priest/minister/etc. conduct ATRL Marriages in this thread, for two consenting members who want to get ATRL married. To state the obvious: this is fake and dramatized for the sake of ***** and giggles, as well as personal enjoyment. The following is how this will work. For the sake of example, let's say Haus_of_Nicole wants to marry me:
- Nicole would ATRL propose to me, either in this thread, elsewhere on ATRL, or outside of ATRL - whatever is fine
- I would say either yes or no; for the sake of example, I say yes
- Nicole comes to this thread, and announces our engagement
- Arrangements are made by me and the minister/priest/etc. to have Nicole and I married
- In a brief ceremony, vows are exchanged and the ATRL minister pronounces Nicole and I ATRL Wife and Husband
An official record of the marriages and date of marriages will be kept in this original post; if members want, they can put who they are ATRL married to in their signatures.
Unlike some places in real life, same sex marriage will be allowed on ATRL, in addition to opposite sex marriage. ATRL bestiality (marriage to smilies) will never be an option, because smilies cannot consent to marriage. Polygamous marriages, for now, are not an option. However, if this thread gets enough interest, I can include a poll in which we can vote on whether or not it should be an option
The only rules for now are that marriages must take place in this thread, and engagements must be announced in this thread so that arrangements can be made for the ceremony. Obviously, problems can/will arise and I can adjust the rules to meet those problems.
I am also open to suggestions on how to make this more interesting, so don't be shy.
As for now, I need to find someone to be the priest/minster/whatever, and from there we can workout the vows/details of the wedding ceremony. We can also tailor vows to what each poster wants; this way, creativity is encouraged and it can be fun to read different vows.
