Alright, sue me! I'm a sucker for power ballads, and this one's no exception. Always been a top 3 favorite on "I'm Not Dead" I'm glad this FINALLY got a release internationally because it is such a beautiful song. In Australia, 2006 was her PEAK year and this song definitely defines that era for me along with "Who Knew" & "U & Ur Hand". The video's not up to much but meh.

And supposedly "Dear Mr. President" is the next single in Belgium. 2007 ahoy for moi!

The surprise worldwide hit of the year for me. While they always were huge on airplay in the UK, this was their first REAL breakthrough worldwide, becoming their first hit basically everywhere. I know about everyone is massively sick of this song and that cheapola video but I still love it, considering it got scant airplay here at all. ADORE this song, the most ironic song since Alanis' "Ironic" herself. Catchy, catchy, catchy... "Kiss You Off" NEEDS to be the next single.

What can you say about this single? Gorgeous ballads, delightful vocals, a stunning video to add to that as well. And this unexpectedly became a HUGE hit in Europe, I'd say even bigger than "Promiscuous" especially considering it's miles better. She made special duet versions in Italy & Germany which are great as well. What can you say about her except c'est la vie? 8-)

The biggest worldwide hit of the year by FAR. I remember being one of the first people to even know about this song. Ages before anybody in the UK even remember that she still existed. It's been massively overplayed a billion times but it'll definitely be a 2006 classic.

The final ranking for the amazingness that is Madam Furtado. The one song in the beginning that leaked around the same time Hips Don't Lie was released that everyone was shocked & stunned by her new sound saying: "This is Nelly?". Even though her hardcore fans knew she dabbled in the urban world ever since 2001, this was still the most stunning & dazzling change that made her go from a Hot AC artist to a purified new rhythmic artist. I love her either way. The instrumental to this song is amazing and she looks STUNNING in the video, I even afterall people, she JUST had a baby!

Ah, what can you say about the Madge? What can you say? Everything about this song is so perfect. It's production is stunning, the video is so colourful and so much fun, and she looks incredible for her age. So what if she flashes her cooch? Still better than Britney's! But I digress... anyways, there are so many great things about this songs... the "I've heard it all before's", the entire chorus, and how she manages to say "I'm sorry/forgive me" in every language possible! Became one of her biggest hits ever in Europe, and probably one of her most successful second singles worldwide. Don't explain yourself, cause talk is cheap indeed.

And finally, my #1 single of 2006:
































































01 - JUMP - Madonna





Sorry to all who are disappointed, but this truly feels like the one. It's ALWAYS been my instant favorite off the album ever since I got it the day of release. And EVERYONE knows it's FAR better than "Get Together" and should have been a third single immediately after "Sorry". "Jump" would have been way more massive and helped the album sell about 12 million copies worldwide after the video hit. *delusional* Backstory: she released "Get Together" because she had a deal with the producers of "The Devil Wears Prada" to feature the song in the ads during the summertime when it was released, so of course she couldn't release "Jump" at the time because it would take attention away from the movie. Hence she released a dull as hell video for "Get Together" and left me annoyed about why "Jump" was ignored. Seeing her perform this on tour was definitely my highlight of 2006 and just as great to see it on TV as well. I sort of liked the video to this song and the whole Japanese theme, especially that weird as hell wig she had on. :lol: Although to the fans, many thought the video was a pile of wank. And by the time the single was finally released, most people were probably tired of it already despite the strong airplay (although would have been stronger if she released it in the first place in the summer). All in all, this song is my personal favorite on the album and the production & verses of this song are so catchy! I can't make it alone, I can't make it alone... my sisters and me... a backdrop to "Keep It Together". But I digress, this is my favorite single of 2006.
