Quote:
BET is beefing up its already strong Awards show line-up for 2016, pulling from some of the South’s most talented and diverse artists in Usher, Future and Bryson Tiller.
The network announced today [Thursday, June 16] that Alicia Keys and Maxwell will also perform at this year’s awards. The night is set to be star-studded as always, with Blackish stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson hosting once again for the night.
There’s a slew of big names set to present awards, including Gabrielle Union, Morris Chestnut, Snoop Dogg, Terrence J, DJ Khaled, Regina Hall, Fantasia and many more. Previously, BET announced Drake has been nominated for nine awards and Beyoncé and Rihanna have tied for five nominations each.
The true highlight of the night will undoubtedly be the tribute for the legacy of music Prince left behind. After social media blasted the Billboard Music Awards for Madonna‘s tribute performance, BET promised to step to the plate and deliver a tribute that will do the late musical genius justice. Sheila E, Janelle Monae, The Roots and D’Angelo will be performing the tribute, with additional artists rumored to be announced shortly.
The BET Awards go down on June 26, 2016 at 8P/7C, live from Los Angeles.
