Tonight will be the first official Sunday update for 2010. So, that means recurrent and purge rules apply tonight. However, it's very difficult to know which ones will go.

Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" is the only sure fire song going. It matches the recurrent criteria. It's below number 20, and it's over its 20 week limit. The only other song that could go recurrent is Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody." It is well over its 20 week limit, but it is at number 20. In order for it to go recurrent, it must be below number 20. However, if it goes, it wouldn't be the first time Mediabase sends a song at number 20 to recurrency. It's really up to Mediabase. We all know "Use Somebody" will crash hard this week and fall below 20, so why not get rid of it now? The same goes to Jesse McCartney's "Body Language" and Rihanna's "Russian Roulette." They both qualify for a purge, except they are still bulleted due to year end plays. However, like "Use Somebody," we all know both songs are going to crash and burn this week. So they really don't have a chance of going top 40 again, so why keep it?

So, with "Obsessed" going, "Somebody to Love" will be sucked back into the top 50 and spend its second week inside the top 50, and Selena Gomez & The Scene's "Naturally" will enter the top 100. If "Use Somebody" also goes, then "Russian Roulette" will be sucked back into the top 50, and Timbaland's "We Belong to the Music (feat. Miley Cyrus)" will get its first official week inside the top 100. If "Body Language" goes, then Muse's "Uprising" will be sucked back inside the top 50, and Zac Brown Band's "Toes" will be sucked back into the top 100. If "Russian Roulette" also goes, then Kristinia DeBarge's "Future Love" will enter the top 50, and Nick Jonas & The Administration's "Who I Am" will be sucked back inside the top 100. Whatever happens, though, "Somebody to Love (feat. Robin Thicke)" will go inside the top 50 and "Naturally" inside the top 100.

Just like I expected, "Obsessed," "Body Language," and "Russian Roulette" are gone. "Use Somebody" stayed, though. However, in this afternoon update, a really unexpected thing happened. Selena Gomez & The Scene gained in spins a lot! They gained six spins since this morning, rather than the expected one, placing them now at number 88! DJ Earworm also had a great afternoon update and jumped ahead of Kristinia DeBarge to get to number 51, his highest charting song to date.
