I mean, this was her first major US appearance/"promo" since she started out because she was nominated for Artist To Watch and even though she was clearly robbed of the Moonman she trended worldwide several times during the night (more than the actual winner )
etc.
probably because of the voting segments, being on the audience focus a few times after relevant moments
and presenting the Best Hip Hop Video award with a rap legend (a lot of people shaded Iggy before for giving more props publicly to Nicki and being paid dust by them)
to a huge star of the moment with chart/radio smashes - Macklemore (and Ryan Lewis...)
even 1D stans are caring about Iggy cuz of this
and now her debut single "Work" that was released back in March and was charting outside the top 600 pulled a HUGE jump this past night and is now top 50 on iTunes US overall combined (with a version peaking inside the top 100: #78 original, #190 version featuring Wale) for the first time almost 6 months after its release + almost top 10 on the hip-hop/rap chart! (music video is also back in the top 100 at #27)
overall top 100:
hip hop/rap:
videos:
I guess people were curious and became more interested in Iggy!?
Work also jumped 48-33 on Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs and is #41 on rhythmic radio with increasing airplay (even if not relevant because no big radios are supporting it).
she's also taping a performance at MTV's Nikki & Sara show thats supposed to air tomorrow.
her new song Change Your Life is being released soon along with a hot new video, can she finally get some relevant chart success in the USA?
Not with Kevin Hart and Miley perched at #1 on Twitter and Wreaking Ball #1 on Itunes.
Actually WB started to drop and Roar is back at #1.
Not to mention the IMMENSE criticism she has been getting in the media and jokes everyone's making out of her - I like Miley but that's not benefitting in my eyes
plus this is a different level, if you put things in perspective considering Iggy's song had never been anywhere near the top 100 for 6 months and then a simple APPEARANCE happens and it goes #78 within 12 hours...
You obviously can't compare her to Justin, Katy, Gaga or Miley. The other artists there getting publicity are already successful acts and didn't get a super notable push from the VMAs imo, everything's sorta how it was expected/back to normal already or soon.
Iggy's climb on iTunes is pretty remarkable to me based on a single award show appearance as a new artist and considering the song was far far away from being inside the overall top 100.

So then who can we compare her to... OMG. You do too much. She got buzz but you are canceling out everyone on the show.
I've seen interviews with her long ago & have always liked her personality but have never given her music a listen until after seeing her last night. I'm addicted to "Work"! The VMAs definitely helped her & she deserved that award more than anyone else! It sucks that she got robbed.

She didn't perform, she was just there looking pretty. Yea presented an award and had a clip of her video playing for a few seconds (but considering she was MTV's Artist To Watch a few months ago and "Work" was playing regularly on the channel it didn't even hit top 100 back then).
If you put thing in perspective she's like this year's VMA's dark horse and benefitting the most. It could give her that extra push/mainstream exposure she needed while all the other acts that got a relative push were already successful and established I guess. If you can't understand logic then that's not my fault
If she want to be a popstar in america: MAYBE
If she wants to be a rapper/ hip hop artist: NO
The hip hop community/demographic doesn't care about the vmas and she needs to impress them. Iggy performing work at bet awards is a different story....will the bet awards even invite iggy?

She was on Hustle Gang's BET Hip-Hop Awards cypher last year and was invited to both that event and the 2013 BET Awards but she said she'd pass on them (they snubbed her on the Best Female category and lied to her fans about a 106 & Park appearance a few weeks earlier using her to get views when she had cancelled and announced on twitter hours earlier).
She needs mainstream exposure now, not from the hip-hop community.

You do know that's difference. Question, Are you a hip hop fan?

That's her demographic though. Iggy knows until she breaks into the hip hop community they will continue to clown her and disrespect her
