Remember when dance-pop and electro-pop took over airwaves and everyone started falling for that sound?
Of course we had "Party Rock Anthem," "Give Me Everything" and a slew of other dance-pop hits this year, but is anyone noticing less of this compared to recent years?
You have Bruno Mars, who took over airwaves with his "boy-next-door" image and rhythm & blues meets pop style of music and has had major success at radio without falling for the dance trend.
You also have Adele, who has also taken over airwaves with songs like "Rolling in the Deep" and the piano-driven ballad, "Someone Like You." We haven't seen a singer-songwriter type artist take over pop radio in this fashion since who? Jewel, maybe?
You have Lady GaGa, whose career was spawn by the dance-pop sound, and now she is transitioning with "You & I," a rock power ballad.
These are just three examples of artists who are finding mega-success with a sound other than what we've been hearing for a half decade now.
Not too mention, there are a ton of country songs floating around on the charts.
So, is dance-pop/electro-pop becoming less dominant in the mainstream? Are we seeing more diversity now? Is the public ready for change?
We do this thread so often and the answer never changes.
No! It is NOT on its way out! The dance-pop craze is just beginning. Wait until we get into real dance production, and actual lyricism in dance music. There is definitely more variety appearing and entering the mainstream, but dance-pop still rules.

Spill that tea
Electro-Dance-Pop still slays everyone's soul more than ever.
definitely not especially with dubstep becoming more popular and mainstream.
Well, I'd say dubstep will be the next trend. It's different from the electropop/dance stuff we've been inundated with, but it's certainly still related to it.
I actually do think that more natural sounds are the start of a trend, if it takes off or not and has legs is another factor though. As it's been established you have had Bruno Mars, Adele, Gaga, Beyonce and Kelly all releasing more natural sounding singles and more or less finding some success with them. Britney will be adding her name to this list to with a folk sounding single Criminal. That being said Dance-pop still rules now but there certainly is a merit to the argument that more natural sounding music is becoming popular again.
Sure we have these slower songs coming from major females (Kelly, Adele, GaGa), and more unique songs like Pumped Up Kicks & Moves Like Jagger doing well, but I honestly think the electropop craze will eventually get stronger.
But I wish we could go back 4-6 years to the female pop/rock craze. Kelly, Avril, Pink

Dance-pop will actually actually bend into another integration of a newer sound. I think Dance-House are making a comeback to it's origin - in the clubs. But this coming -back transition will probably take another 5 years to come full circle.
