Did Avril Lavigne make a comeback?
I was talking the other day on how I'm happy that Avril made a successful comeback, and today I saw this:
Quote:
RCA/RMG rocker Avril Lavigne returns with Goodbye Lullabye, her fourth studio album and first since 2007’s The Best Damn Thing, which appears headed for 85-90k
|
If it sells less than Bionic
What do you think?

Selling more than 400K is nothing to be worried about, considering that she's been gone for 4 years. I wouldn't call it a "comeback", but she's doing good.

I'm sad for Avril, but HONESTLY, her stans were rubbing too much on Britney stans faces that Avril was gonna outsell Brit effortlessly.
She'll be lucky to go Gold in USA.

I'm a fan of her, but I've been so disappointed since she released WTH
I mean... did she forgot about how promote an song/record? Cause she's not doing it right
I think the album is cool, the songs are cool and the promoting is cool... She's just not doing the way she should be. She's not in the 2000's anymore, and she/her team needs to realize that

Yes, she did, by giving one of the best albums of her career and one of the best albums released this year (Yeah, It will top some upcoming releases even if we havent even heard them, GL is just that awesome), that's an amazing comeback.

I was generous and predicted Avril would sell about 150k first week, then some Avril stan started laughing at me, telling me that I didn't know who Avril was if I thought she'd sell that little.
Who's laughing now, bitch?
No, but I honestly am a bit suprised. I thought it'd do at least 150k. It's a great album; however, the promotion's bit a little lacking, and WTH hasn't done a ton on the charts. She obviously could care less how well it does. She just wants to leave her label/get her way.

It's her worst album tied with "Under My Skin."

Under my skin and Goodbye Lullaby are her best albums to date.

YES we still can't say it's a 100% comeback for a big artist like her but I would say yes
with a record label like RCA that is not doing things as they should, after 4 years since her last album and been aways for 2 it's not easy

and those sales u put... first were do they come from?
we don't know yet! we are on the 2nd day of release and in 2011 we all know each year albums sell much less
album already leak weeks ago and I don't care with how much while it debuts at #1.
WTH also did and still doing great it's selling great and video is a hit too.

The Best Damn Thing >> Let Go > Under My Skin = Goodbye Lullaby
The only great song on "Goodbye Lullaby," next to "What the Hell," is "Wish You Were Here."

It's simple. After the first day of sales are counted, predictions for the album's entire week are based off of that. Albums typically sell the most they will in their first week on their first day. It's also not a guarenteed #1. Adele sold 160k in her second week, and could outsell Avril by a smidge.
Oh, and Duca is wrong. This is my opinion:
Goodbye Lullaby=Under My Skin>>>TBDT>>>Let Go
She's never made a bad record, though.

It won't debut at #1. She'll be lucky to open in the top 5.

Atlantic’s Fiasco Headed for #1 Debut, Glee Vo. 5, Lavigne Also Bow
It’s Lupe Fiasco time. The Chicago-born rapper—real name Wasalu Muhammad Jaco—arrives with his third Atlantic Records studio album, Lasers, which will debut at #1 next week with between 220-240k in sales, the second biggest of the year next to Adele and the best start of his career.
Columbia’s Glee, Vol. 5 hits this week, with an expected sales total in the 90-100k range. This one features the gang’s mash-up of “Thriller” and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll,” along with versions of Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Katy Perry’s “Firework,” Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls.”

They misspelled her album title. Or are they being shady with that "bye?"

I'm really sad that she's not selling well.
Goodbye Lullaby is her best album to date, along with Under My Skin. Ugh. I hope her next single will make up for the underwhelming sales.
