Ugh.. I am really not trying to sound cliche or religious (because I'm agnostic) but god is good!! It was around 4:00 am when I got a call from an unfamiliar number. I ignored it the first ring and picked it up the second time they call.. My mom was in a car accident.. Some drunk driver (with other passengers in car..) went speeding down the street and ran the red light (going 60+ when the speed limit was like 35 :biblio) and hit my moms car from the passenger side, it went swerving and she hit someone else's car while spinning. There are good people in this world and I can't thank them enough.. The doors on my moms car were pretty much deadlocked, people who had heard the crash came outside and rushed to help my mom (and other cars in the accident) they had to bust her windows out with a Hammer, and she doesn't remember how they got the doors open or got her out.. Anyways when I answered the phone and a woman answered back "Um your wife got into a really bad car accident, she's bleeding a lot" my heart STOPPED. I have NEVER in my life felt more anexiety, I rushed into my dad's room and quickly put him on the phone and we frantically got in his truck driving to the location the woman gave us. I prayed the whole drive through, I just kept asking god to please let my mom live and to please not take her away
Me and my dad see the multiple ambulance lights up ahead and drive up. I didn't even have any damn shoes on I jumped out the car and ran to where my mom was (she was on the ground with people crowded around her nearly about to lose consciousness. She was barely talking all I could remember is trying to comfort her and hoping she would be okay.. Her car was absolutely MANGLED and totaled. There wasn't enough paramedics at the scene to tend to everyone at once so that was like the longest 5-10 minutes of my life just waiting there for her to get help. Her eyes swelled with tears from the physical pain alone and I was so scared she might have a concussion or slip into a coma or something. I went down to the hospital with her and rode in the ambulance (I think it was fire rescue actually). Me and my dad were with her in ER for about 6-7 hours and they gave her pain meds and other shots so thank god her suffering has gone down a bit. We're all home now and she's still in much pain though. Her ankle was fractured and they put a soft cast on her leg, thank god everything else from the CAT scan came back positive. She will still need to go to the doctor to be checked on in the next few days. I have never been more scared in my life than I was today. Today has totally changed my perspective and outlook on life for the better I am just so grateful to have my mom with me, I don't know what I would do.. Yes this was long I just really needed to share this (even if all of you are complete strangers to me). Also, the person who ran into my mom had a gentlemen in the backseat, he had to be air lifted to a hospital, I'm told his injuries were horrendous and a good sized piece of his head was actually dismembered from his skull and he was gushing blood, please keep him in your prayers or send well wishes if that's not your type of thing. I really hope he lives. This post is getting tedious but I just want to tell you how I've never really looked at drunk driving more of a problem than I have now. You can say "yea it's bad" but you can never really fathom how it feels to get a phone call saying one of your loved ones has been in a critical car accident. Please never drive impaired guys!
When was the last time you experienced something tramatic and explain what happened.
