Beyond the cheesy title, this game plans to be action-packed, fast-paced, dramatic, and exciting. It will test your speed, activity, reflexes, and possibly alliances/trust.

Has anyone ever played the card game Spoons? This tournament is based on that card game.

Here is a description of the card game! Check it out.

In the traditional game of Spoons, you have players sitting around a table. In the middle of the tale, spread out, are spoons -- there is one less spoon than there are players. Multiple decks of playing cards are shuffled and given to one of the players. This player deals 4 cards to each of the players, and then begins the round by going through the rest of the deck, one card at a time. This first player can choose to keep the card from the deck, thus discarding one of his other 4 cards. He can also choose to not take this card, and pass it quickly to the next person on the table, who in turn passes it to the next person if he doesn't want it, and so on, and so forth. The players do this as fast as possible, and it keeps going and going and going.



The game's intensity picks up as the cards start flying. Basically, the goal of the game is to be the first person at the table to get 4 cards of the same kind. Four aces, four kings, four sevens, etc. However, there is a second element that makes this game so intense. When somebody gets 4 cards of the same kind, they grab one of the spoons in the middle of the table. As soon as this happens, all of the other players must IMMEDIATELY grab a spoon as well. There will be one person who is not quick enough, and this person will not get a spoon. Thus, they will be eliminated from the game. This continues, round after round, until only 2 remain; then, there is a final face off.

THE GAME!

This card game will be converted into an ATRL game! The overall concept is simple: I will give you diverse challenges to complete in. The first person to achieve the set goal of the challenge will be guaranteed a spot in the next round. This person will get the go ahead from me to post the word "SPOON" in the thread. (Pictures or other creative representations of the word "spoon" are acceptable, as well.)

As soon as this first person posts "SPOON" in the thread, all of the other players must stop attempting the challenge. They must post the word "SPOON" in the thread, or an image, or other version of the word. It's easiest to just post the word at this point. It is the only way to save themselves. Similar to musical chairs, there will be one less "SPOON" than there are players in the round, and the last player remaining without a "SPOON" will be eliminated. If more than one player does not post "SPOON" before the next challenge, all of them will be eliminated or there will be a vote from the contestant who won the challenge.

This game will require you to be an active player! If you don't post often, there is a good chance that you will get eliminated in an early round. I will make an official schedule of all of the rounds, once I see how many players there will be in the game. The time of the challenges will be determined on a round by round basis. The times will rotate, in order to accommodate people from different time zones throughout the world.

The challenges will be LIVE, because remember, you want to be the first person to complete the challenge. You will want to be aware of what is happening in the thread during this challenge period, because it could become a "SPOON" war very quickly. Players who are a little slower/in a bad time zone will have until the next challenge (24 hours later) to post in the thread. However, there is a high possibility that all the spoons will be taken within an hour or two of the challenge being posted.

A word on the 522 error:

I have received this error many times over the past few weeks, and it is EXTREMELY frustrating. Given the live nature of this game, the 522 error could cause someone to be eliminated unfairly. Obviously, I understand that if you can not access the site during the challenge/spoon grabbing time, that is not your fault. I am a sympathetic person, and a bit of a pushover. However, I am going to assume that all of you have multiple devices on which you can access ATRL. Thus, if you receive the 522 error on one device, please try to access this thread on any device you can. If worst comes to worst, and you get eliminated due to 522, please take a screenshot of the 522 error WITH THE TIME STAMP SHOWING, and I will deal with it from there. This applies to any other of these connectivity issues with numbers. I do not imagine this will affect things for at least the first week. If it happens to you, please talk to me. I don't bite.


THE TWIST!

The Scarlet Spoon: Based upon this season's theme colors, I am going to invoke a classic piece of literature for the competition. In this novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Hester Prynne is pregnant out of wedlock, which was considered a major sin to the Puritan communities in early America. She is forced to don a scarlet letter "A", standing for adulteress, throughout her life as a mark of shame. In this season, one contestant will be given a "Scarlet Spoon" per round. How will this work? The winner of one round's challenge will have to choose another contestant to receive a disadvantage in the NEXT round. This is the responsibility of the winner and they can not refuse to choose someone, or else the winner will be assigned the disadvantage themselves. Yes, this could be seen as a potential downside to winning challenges, or a potential advantage to weaken strong players strategically. You will have until the beginning of the next round to determine me the contestant to whom you are giving a "Scarlet Spoon". They will receive both a disadvantage in the challenge and a spoon grabbing restriction (for example, they might have to wait until there are only three spoons left to secure their spot). This twist will begin in round two (round one's winner will choose a person), and it will last until at least the top twelve.

In addition, back by popular request, I have reinstated the Secret Spoon of Safety. The "SSOS" is somewhat similar to a Hidden Immunity Idol in Survivor. At random intervals in the competition, I will post a SSOS challenge. Most of them will likely occur during the signup week. If you are the first to complete this challenge, you will be awarded the Secret Spoon of Safety. This special reward can be used at any round in the competition up to and including the final 6 round. Basically, if you know that you are going to be unavailable one night, and fear that you will be eliminated, you can use your Secret Spoon of Safety in order to give yourself immunity for that round. The Secret Spoon of Safety must be played before the challenge begins, by posting in the thread: "I would like to use my Secret Spoon of Safety during tonight's round." Please also post the image found below, when you want to use it. Each person is only allowed to have a maximum of ONE secret spoon throughout the season. In addition, the SSOS will nullify the Scarlet Spoon twist for the round, but obviously only if the user of the SSOS was the person who was given the Scarlet Spoon.
