It’s pretty cool when a new insect species is discovered. It’s even more exciting when scientists find a new genus. But a new family? That’s pretty amazing and doesn’t happen very often.
But it did recently, on Kangaroo Island in South Australia. This is the first time since the 1970s that a new family of primitive moth has been identified anywhere in the world.
Just shows how little we know of Earth and what may inhabit it. We have only explored less than 5% of our oceans, and the deepest that we have dug into the ground is 12,262 meters. Considering that the crust of our planet alone is 40 kilometers, we have only explored the surface of our soils. We have yet to touch the mantle, outer core or even the core of our planet. What could exist in such vast unexplored areas makes one wonder about the things / places / species that mankind has yet to discover.

yah. i was taking a life science course and my professor was saying that there are so many undiscovered interesting species especially in the oceans but people just tend to focus on the cute ones instead
