Is Bieber Fever beginning to cool off?
Part 1 of the NBC special "Justin Bieber: All Around the World" aired to lackluster ratings Wednesday night, while "So You Think You Can Dance" propelled Fox to an overall win for the evening, according to preliminary numbers.
With overall TV usage down slightly from last Wednesday, Fox came in first in ratings and total viewers. "So You Think You Can Dance," which filled the network's primetime slate, took a minor dip from last week, but was still the night's top-rated and most-watched show with a 2.4 rating/8 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and 6.5 million total viewers.
Univision took second place in ratings and fifth in total viewers, averaging a 1.4/4 and 3.5 million for the night.
CBS tied ABC for third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and took a solid second place in total viewers with 5.8 million. Aside from "Dogs in the City" at 8 p.m., which was down 9 percent in the demo with a 1.0/4 and drew 4.9 million total viewers, the network aired repeats.
ABC, which took third place in total viewers with 4.1 million, also relied mostly on reruns. The exception was the singing competition "Duets" at 9:30, which ran flat with last week for a 1.1/4, and attracted 4.1 million total viewers.
NBC drew fifth place in ratings and fourth in total viewers with an average 0.9/3 and 3.6 million. "Justin Bieber: All Around the World" at 8 drew a 0.9/3 -- tying for the second-lowest-rated network program of the night, despite the abundance of repeats -- and 3.3 million total viewers. Following the Bieber special, the network aired repeats.

Justin Bieber's NBC special flops in ratings
Quote:
“I’m experiencing what the Beatles went through, what Michael Jackson went through,” Justin Bieber said on his NBC special last night.
Perhaps, but the Beatles and Michael Jackson brought a lot more than a few million viewers to their primetime TV appearances. Bieber’s special disappointed in the ratings Wednesday night. Even by summer TV’s modest ratings standards, All Around the World (3.3 million viewers, 0.9 adults 18-49 rating) was a flop. And it’s only part one of a two-part special chronicling the Beebs’ promotional tour for his new album Believe. NBC came in fourth place in the 8 p.m. hour, with CBS’ aptly named Dogs in the City (4.9 million, 1.0) edging out Bieber.
Meanwhile, Fox’s SYTYCD (6.5 million, 2.4) led the night, though was down a tenth this week. ABC’s Duets (4.2 million, 1.1) was unchanged from last week.
