Hi everyone! Welcome to my Best of 2016. This is a great countdown to keep your eye on if you're looking to find music you might have missed. I'll be doing a countdown on my top 50 songs I've listened to this year. Each update will have ten songs and there will be a total of five updates.

Specific Info

- Most of the music is more non-mainstream although I wouldn't say everything is obscure.
- Lots of the music was not released this year, but it's eligible for me because I started listening to it this year.
- I like a lot of different kinds of music! I'll give brief descriptions of each song, and the best way to use this countdown is to just give a listen to whatever sounds interesting to you rather than try to listen to everything. My tastes can get weird so chances are there's a lot of stuff that will be polarizing.
- If you listen to something I'd love to hear your thoughts, even if you didn't like it! I really will not be offended if you tell me a song was trash.

Statistics

- The average song length is 4 minutes and 35 seconds.
- 27 songs have male lead vocals, while 23 have female lead vocals.
- 4 songs in this countdown are not in English – one in Chinese, two in Korean and one in a language that Google Translate can't even detect so it might be made up
- No artist was allowed to have more than four songs on the countdown
- There are 29 different artists on this countdown, 12 of which have multiple songs.

Before I start my countdown, I want to do Honourable Mentions! These are ten songs I really enjoyed listening to this year, but for whatever reason they didn't make my main list. An Honourable Mention song can't be by an artist that appears in my top 50, nor can it have been in any of my previous year-end countdowns. So without further ado, in alphabetical order!

The Magician - I like the strings a lot but the rest of the song is eh for me
Being Human - I think I like this. It's a little all over the place to me though
Summer Madness - sounds familiar, though I can't place my finger on it
Unarm - not 8 minutes

Honeycomb - LOVE the strings in the background. Very relaxing.

I got distracted and listened to Cement Love for a bit here

Awoo - really good for K-Pop standards

Homage - eh
Proud to Me - really relaxing like Honeycomb, just not my style.
Loss of Forgetfulness - mess at this title serving PH teas. The song reminds me of my cities local singer songwriter world.
Wanderer White - average in this bunch IMO

Mess well thanks for listening. I actually agree with a lot of stuff you said. There's definitely reasons all of these songs didn't make the main countdown.
