Blackground her former label didn't let her go or drop her because they know she can turn into a huge star.
They held her on contract for 10 years. While she released singles these past couple of years Blackground just did it so that her contract can be extended. If she did not take action, she would still be under contract until 2017 since her last single "Sexy to Me" was released in 2012 and since they released new music her contract would be extended to another 5 years.
She's now with Atlantic, I believe? She is a MAJOR priority and they have been wanting to sign her for the past three years.
Her album is coming out early next year and her single late this year.
it's been a long time coming
