ABBA's greatest hits compilation Gold has been named the best-selling CD in British music history.
The band's retrospective collection has sold 4 million copies in the format according to new data from the BPI.
Adele's 21 is in second place, having sold 3.5 million CDs in the UK since its release in January 2011.
Oasis land at three after selling 3.4 million copies of (What's the Story) Morning Glory on compact disc since its original release back in 1995.
Yesterday (October 1) marked the 30th anniversary of the compact disc, with the world's very first CD players announced in Japan on the date back in 1982.
While ABBA's Gold is the best-selling CD in UK music history, Queen's Greatest Hits remains the best-selling album.
However, ABBA and Queen's greatest hits compilations, along with The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, are the only albums to have sold over 5 million copies in the UK.
