[The most surprising thing is that] Valeria is constantly receiving letters from young girls who ask her for advise how to get such “beautiful” shape.
“I’m not going to teach young girls how to die” – said Valeria Levitina in an interview to British media.
“I keep getting e-mails. Girls ask me about my methods of losing weight. They are mostly about 20 years old, and they think of me as the model for inspiration” – said Valeria.
It is because of the fans and their letters that Valeria decided to talk about her serious illness.
“It ruined my life. It made me lonely, nasty and unattractive to others“- says Valeria. Now the woman is involved in various campaigns against the hazardous diets.
The problems with food started when Valeria was a teen. Now she thinks that it was because of her complicated relationship with mother and her sharp words. Her mother was worried that the girl could become fat since many women in her family had problems with weight.
When Valeria was 16, her family moved to Chicago, and she had to attend new school, where she didn’t know anyone. At that time she weighed 63 kg and was ashamed of it.
“In order to be accepted, I started losing weight” – she recalls. At 19 she already looked very feminine, and at 23 Valeria was already very slim.
But when she decided to start the modeling career, the situation deteriorated. In many auditions she was told that she had “too much flesh on the bones”. That period in modeling industry was dominated by girls with protruding ribs. And at the age of 24 years, Valeria Levitina already weighed about 38 kilograms.
Then the most difficult decade of her life followed. Anorexia made her permanently unhappy about her body. She could not start a normal relationship because she couldn’t go to dine out or dance.
She is still sick. “The specialists cannot help me. The problem is in the dissonance between the body and the soul“- sighs Valeria.
Valeria’s dream is to become a surrogate mother, carry and give a child to some infertile couple. But she can do it only if she gets well.
