Question... Why is it that so many ATRLers judge people by the date they joined the site? I can think of more than a few reasons why just because someone's join date was recent, it doesn't mean they're "new."
1. Some people join the site under one username, then leave for a period of time and end up returning with a different username and abandoning the old account.
Example: I used to be known as JulesVel back in 2009, but in 2010 I switched to ExtraChapstick. There have been many occasions, however, where people have claimed they've been here longer, when in fact we joined either around the same time or I joined first (but does that really matter unless someone has been here for several years?)
2. Some people just never signed up, and always viewed the site as a guest (then later decided to join).
With that said, why are people so unwelcoming to "new members" and so willing to tell them to "sit down" at every chance they get? That, to me, seems like it would deter people rather than encourage them to join our community. I just don't understand this obsession with Join Dates. Shouldn't we evaluate one another on our actions? I don't get it...
Because a lot of the newer members have that "noob" mentality, they're always trying to get at someone, most likely they don't know what they're talking about and they think they run the site.
They're basically like the freshmen class of ATRL.
When I first registered I was pretty delusional. I don't get involved with arguments here. Yet... I'm still in the process of making a name for myself.
It's as Jonny said... it's just a way for someone to feel superior,
or they lack the mental capacity to actually post a worthy
response after being dragged by an alleged "noob."
I've been wondering the same thing, even though I'm truly a newbie; I don't have any other accounts like some members. As you see I have very few posts but I don't throw shade or act like I know more than the other members (at least I don't try) and I generally just browse the threads and if I want to throw an opinion in or something I will. I respect the other members (especially the ones who have been here for awhile). It is quite funny to see the "mature members" (if that's what you want to call it) dragging each other over nothing.
