Pink 280K+; G.O.O.D. 180-200K
IS P!NK G.O.O.D. ENOUGH TO BEAT KANYE FOR #1?
RCA Diva Has Edge Going Into Week, The Killers Look for Six Figure Debut
September 19, 2012
Quote:
She’s the daring young diva on the flying trapeze. RCA diva P!nk’s latest, The Truth About Love, her sixth studio recording, is on target to be her first-ever # album, with a projected total of 200-225k. Her previous high was the #2 slot reached by the last album, 2008’s Funhouse.
That would be enough to top Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music compilation on Def Jam/IDJ, Cruel Summer, which may have suffered from a brief, one-day absence of the album from iTunes, but is gaining ground quickly, according to one-day sales reports from retailers both physical and digital lucky enough not to find themselves part of Mitt Romney’s 47% cut-off. At this point it looks like it will sell in the 170-190k range. We’ll keep an eye on the battle as we head into Friday’s Weakend Chart Preview.
Las Vegas alt-rockers The Killers’ Battle Born, their fourth Island/IDJ album and first since 2008’s Day & Age, should break six figures, with a projected total of 110-120k. The last one racked up 193k in its debut week.
Warp Records Brooklyn art-rock indie darlings Grizzly Bear—one of Jay-Z and Beyonce’s alterna-faves—is looking at an impressive first week of sales between 40-50k.
604/Schoolboy/Interscope Canadian popster Carly Rae Jepsen’s Kiss looks to be in the 35-40k range, with plenty of help from efforts by the label’s Scooter Braun to spread the world through social networking.
Mercury Nashville country singer-songwriter Easton Corbin’s All Over the Road, the sophomore follow-up to his self-titled debut in 2010, is on target for 25-30k, the same as Columbia alt-Americana rockers Band of Horses’ Mirage Rock, the Seattle band’s fourth album, the follow-up to 2010’s Grammy-nominated Infinite Arms.
Album sales were up 7% vs. last week, down 8% vs. same week last year and down 5% year to date.
Track sales were down 2% vs. last week, up 9% vs. same week last year and up 6% year to date.
TEA sales were up 4% vs. last week, down 4% vs. same week last year and down 2% year to date.

Billboard: P!nk, 'Cruel Summer' Albums Heading for Top of Next Week's Billboard 200 Chart
Quote:
Believe it or not, pop superstar P!nk has yet to earn a No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. But that may change next week, as industry sources suggest the diva's latest release, "The Truth About Love," may bow atop the list with between 210,000 and 220,000 sold.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Sept. 26.
P!nk has notched six entries on the Billboard 200, with five of them hitting the top 10. Starting with 2002's "M!ssundaztood" (No. 6), every one of her albums have reached the region. "Try This" (No. 9) followed in 2003, while "I'm Not Dead" (No. 6, 2006), "Funhouse" (No. 2, 2008) and "Greatest Hits. . . So Far!!!" (No. 5, 2011) all followed.
"The Truth About Love" may fend off the advances of the Kanye West-presented "Cruel Summer" compilation. Label prognosticators are suggesting that the G.O.O.D. Music set may sell 170,000 to 190,000 copies (and possibly even a bit more).
The hip-hop effort got off to a wobbly start on its Sept. 18 release date after it didn't appear in the iTunes Store until late in the afternoon. West or his label, Roc-a-Fella/Def Jam, didn't give an official reason for the delay. However, multiple sources have suggested there was an issue with the mastering of the set, causing a last-minute delay of its iTunes release.
Late Tuesday, Def Jam's official Twitter accounted tweeted, "Thank you for your patience! Get 'Cruel Summer' on iTunes Now!" along with missives directing fans to iTunes with a link to purchase the "NEW mastered version" of the album.
With P!nk and the "Cruel Summer" compilation heading for Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, that leaves the Killers' new "Battle Born" aiming for No. 3. The rock band's fourth studio effort is on track to sell 120,000 or so.
Also on course for a top 10 debut: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Kiss;" Band of Horses' "Mirage Rock;" Grizzly Bear's "Shields;" and Easton Corbin's "All Over the Road." Jepsen and Band of Horses' albums may shift around 35,000, while Grizzly Bear and Corbin's sets might sell 30,000 and 28,000, respectively.

HITS: P!nk will score her first #1 and biggest sales debut on next week's chart. It’s her biggest debut ever, the previous being the 220k for her November 2001 album, Missundaztood. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:

*The Killers (Island/IDJ) 110-120k

*Band of Horses (Columbia) 25-28k

IN THE P!NK: Not only will RCA high-flying pop/R&B diva P!nk’s new album, The Truth About Love, be her first #1, but it has also now soared past the predicted 225-250k and could go as high as 275k. P!nk joined Gwen Stefani and No Doubt on-stage at last Friday night’s iHeartRadio Music Festival in a widely seen video performing, “Just a Girl” (see below). (9/24p)
Until then, you’re stuck with your BlackBerries, folks. Just for comparison sake, the top album in the country this week, P!nk's The Truth About Love, will sell around 280k copies

WELP at the predictions for carly. let's just remind ourselves of the deluded predictions her fans had for her first-week sales last month
the thread was edited to be for france for some reason but we all know the responses were meant for her US first week sales. so many 100k predictions
