Then, likely this April, the justices will hold arguments over the issue — which would mean a decision, and possible nationwide resolution of the issue, would be expected by late June.

It's not that simple though. Do you mean in marriage or employment rights too?

All the gay rights groups backed out of ENDA because the religious exemptions are too big so our only hope for a complete guarantee of protections in things like employment is being added in language to the Civil Rights Act.

That'll only happen when the Democrats get control of Congress which won't likely happen again until Republican's gerrymandering of voting districts stops which won't even be remotely possible until the next census in 2020.

With heightened scrutiny a state has to REALLY PROVE any law they pass is really for public benefit and not out of hate. 9th Circuit gave gays that term and Nevada gave up because they knew it would be next to impossible to defend an obviously anti-gay law.

I'd love to give Kennedy and even Roberts the benefit of the doubt and predict 7-2, but I'm too nervous so I'll just say 5-4.

This kinda scares me, I'm not gonna lie. Since there could be a conflict with the Tenth Amendment regarding the second question. LGBT Americans should be thankful for the Fourteenth Amendment.

I hope they side with the truth once again and strike down all those discriminatory bans.

If they rule against against the plantiffs, the reaction's gonna make Hobby Lobby and Citizen United's blowback look like child's play.

We're not getting Thomas or Scalia so it all comes down to Kennedy and Roberts, both of whom care way too much about their legacies, IMO.
