Rather than talk about Body Talk as three separate albums, let's just consider all of the material here (or only the full-length album actually named Body Talk, if you prefer).
The album holds an 86 on Metacritic, which not only indicates universal acclaim but obliterates the scores of every other pop album in recent years (unless we are a little less strict about what we consider pop).
What do you think it is about the album that makes it so much better in the eyes of reviewers than her contemporaries? Is it that she devotes herself wholeheartedly to the feel of the bubblegum pop. Is it that she layers her songs with complex or idiosyncratic themes? Is it the superb tight-knit production on each song? Or is she able to maintain her respect as an artist and avoid polarization because of her relatively small-scale fame?
Do you think Body Talk is on a level above other pop albums of the past few years? Why?
