After It Will Rain and Young, Wild & Free died down, people thought it would be the end of Bruno and he would just go back to songwriting/producing for other artists. Then, Locked Out of Heaven happened......
Will Bruno have an era similar to Katy's (hit after hit after hit after hit etc., broken records, radio smashes)? I AM NOT ASKING IF HE WILL GET 6 #1s (although Anything Could Happen ), so please don't come in and say "no, he won't get 6 #1s" as an argument. Think about the TD era as a whole.
Ironically, both have opened with similar numbers on both of their albums:
Teenage Dream is a once in a lifetime kind of era, so no. LOOH is just another song, crappy music video,etc. whereas CG was perfect and actually had impact.
Depending on the single choices. There's a few risky but potential ones (Moonshine, If I Knew), and some radio candy (When I Was Your Man, Young Girls), and some explicit ones that would probably never be released (Gorilla) so it really depends on that.
While it could happen I don't want it to occur because I'm a pressed soul who wants Katy to be the one and only living MJ
Interesting of you to say that. TD was massive, so the notion that Bruno's two-hit first era was bigger is null and void.
His album sold 2m in the States and over 6m worldwide with three singles, all of which made IFPI's year-end chart and sold well over 30m combined, without a promo parade 'Teenage Dream' had. Both the album and the singles were much more global as well.

Err... Doo Wops outsold Teenage Dream on a WW scale with only 3 singles, quarter the promotion and NO re-release.

6m in the States alone would have been just okay for an album with 6 #1's and 8 multi-platinum top 3 hits. Her tour didn't do well at all either.
There is a few artists that can reach the million mark nowadays so 2x Platinum and nearly 3x Platinum is amazing, TD has an amazing longevity (still #101). I think she simply succeeded in selling both singles and albums. She did way better than her first era and it's difficult to do that.
