Your argument is flawed because you make the incorrect assumption that the only way a song can be iconic and groundbreaking is through it's chart run.

Sales have NOTHING to do with impact. It has been disccussed many times, so this thread is pointless.

Depends upon what you're impacting. Mainstream stations and the general population, maybe not. But when thinking about it, I feel like Single Ladies was sort of a gateway single. Busting everything else open for success.

It's Beyoncé's signature song and her only iconic moment so they're right to cling onto it.

take, for instance, friday. it was well known EVERYWHERE, global phenomenon, & what was its chart run? exactly.

same thing happened with single ladies, only everyone LOVED it.

"Single ladies" was the Bsides of "If I were a boy" outside the States

due its impact, it was rushreleased in a few countries like UK, Australia.

It was never released in France yet charted there just on its impact
