Why has Madonna outlasted her peers?
Why has the Rebel Heart singer outlasted her peers?
even the 80's, 90's and 00's peers combined?

Dion sold over 3 million albums of new material since 2012
Carey has a #15 and #11 peaking single in 2013 and 2015
Janet had a #1 album in 2015
Whitney is selling more catalogue material than all the other 4 combined.
the BIG5: Madge, Dion, Houston, Carey and Janet are still doing their thang, unfortunately, whitney of course has passed on.

No she hasn't. Madonna is in the 34th year of her career (1982 to 2016).
MJ: 1969 to 2009 = 40 years
Prince: 1978 to 2016 = 38 years
Janet: 1973 to 2016 = 43 years
Celine Dion: 1981 to 2016 = 35 years
The only peers Madonna outlasted are Whitney and Mariah, and only because they debuted after her.

With her last album selling 1M copies WW, a $170M grossing tour, 200M views from her last third single, being the 3rd top musician on Forbes (the fact that 34 years after her debut she made more than Rihanna, Beyonce, Katy, Bieber and Drake and she is also above other veterans like AC/DC, The Rolling and also others that didn't even make the list like Mariah, Janet, Kylie, Cyndi, Gaga, Cher etc etc), making press and headlines nonstop and getting her haters perched and fuming like this thread proves, the Queen of Pop even outlast some of the 10's peers. Talent really prevails.

She worked harder than anyone, and never fell into the traps that have wrecked many a career (drug addiction being the main one, obviously).

I agree but it's not only that. She was/is still doing good things career-wise, like touring (greater and better, not just in term of numbers) and other interesting projects along the way. She's been more consistent on being a exciting artist to look up.
