The judges are looking for acts with The X Factor. But if Sunday night’s show was any indication, perhaps it’s more The X-rated Factor. The ITV talent show faces a string of complaints after it allowed a stripper’s audition to be shown before the watershed.
In a separate episode it focused on the humiliation of two teenagers who squirmed with embarrassment as their mother performed a dreadful rendition of a Lady Gaga song.
Ofcom, the media regulator, was yesterday under growing pressure to investigate the two programmes after a backlash from viewers. It said it had received ‘a number’ of complaints about Sunday’s explicit act and 30 about the treatment of the teenagers.
Rating figures for The X Factor have dropped to less than eight million, down by more than two million on last year, suggesting that viewers have tired of the same tawdry antics.
8 mill in the UK is equivalent to around 40 million in the US and thats BAD for X-Factor. The UK don't have Britney either. Can't wait for US premiere.
It's the ninth season though in the UK, so it's not that surprising people are tired of it, not to mention there's no Simon (and Cheryl) anymore and the judges are kinda boring this year (Nicole Scherzinger doesn't really add anything to the panel).
Also overtaken by "The Voice" as most watched reality show in 2012:
Quote:
The Board revealed that a total of 9.4m viewers watched the opening edition of The Voice in March compared to 9.1m final total for the first edition of The X Factor 2012.
And there was a similar gap for the second editions of the show, with 9.9m tuning in to The Voice compared to 9.6m for The X Factor - while ratings rose to 10.7m for the third week of the show.
An average audience of 8.7m watched the opening show of The X Factor on ITV1 on the night it was screened last month - making the viewing figures the lowest for a launch edition since the 2006 series.
