Take a look at September 14th, then September 18th.
TRL added in audience votes to the usual e-mail and phone votes, and even back then, it was not very common for an audience member to be a fan of Orgy, Korn, Eve 6, P.O.D. or Papa Roach.
This new addition ruined the countdown for almost an entire year.
Korn were not on the September 14th countdown, but "Somebody Someone" reached 49 days, and P.O.D.'s "Rock the Party" was at 43 days--both could have easily retired.
Orgy and Papa Roach had huge potential, judging from their previous runs, yet were thrown off the countdown. I still see September 18th, 2000 as a blatant slap in the face to the supporters of rock music.
The past 5-6 years of TRL have been a travesty, for the most part, especially the absence of
good rock music.
