Special mention to Ace Reject for allowing me to get this bad boy off the ground. It's been almost TWO YEARS since we last did a rate of ATRL's Top 50 songs of (insert year here), but I think it's fair time for that to change. For a refresher course on the Top 50 rates, here's the version for 2005. Yes, I'm still not sure how Missy Elliott won the rate, despite nobody really loving the song.

2006 was, like 2005, a pretty interesting year for the top 50. A freaking TOOL song made the top 50, for christ's sake. As you'd expect, pop would dominate the top of the top 50, but there's certainly an eclectic group of songs in the top 50. What were the top 50? Well...I'm glad you asked! Or did you ask? I'm posting it anyway. Oh, and I just want to point specific attention to the top six. You could say that Nelly Furtado had a BIT of an impact on ATRL in 2006...






(PS: The method of calculating the average score and what-have-you will, hopefully, be the exact same as Ace's for the 2005 rate.)

Pretty surprised that you don't remember what "Be Without You" sounds like. Then again, I just remember that song being EVERYWHERE at the time, so that could just be my nostalgia talking.

Two weeks later...don't worry, guys, this isn't dead. Other stuff has just come up in the meantime. We're getting this off the ground, dammit.

I was trying to avoid coming up with a set deadline, because I just wasn't sure when I'd actually get this started, especially with Best Of season coming shortly and the new ATRL being implemented. But, if it makes you guys send in your rates sooner (I've only received one rate so far...thanks, MP2K)...we can always shoot for December 15th being the deadline...by 11:59pm EST? Maybe?
