I'm pretty sure I've seen people make this claim in passing, so I decided to make a Thread about it.
We can all see that Gaga is on fire right now, the sales of BTW prove that she has an extremely dedicated fanbase, who all bought the song as soon as it came out. By the time the album comes out, she will have 2 singles out with the potential to appeal to very different demographics, BTW will probably have turned into her biggest airplay hit and the Hype is gonna be sky high.

The second factor besides music that's important for such a feat is promo, and I think no one can deny that Gaga's promo is already absolutely on point and probably the best for anyone in the game right now. Her team is doing everything necessary to create hype, booking her for all the right performances (AI Final on the 19th anyone?) and to get her name out there. I'm starting to believe that these 2 factors will actually propel her to a debut in excess of 1 million copies in the US alone.
What does everyone else think?


If you don't think she can do it, that's fine, join the discussion and say why. Don't just come in and say something like "lol the delusion" cause honestly it's a mess and no one is here for that.

It's possible since we can easily assume more than 1 million people will definitely buy her album. The only question is whether those people will hurry up to get the album the first week or they will purchase it later.

1M WW is on lock, in the US never. Even Eminem 'only' did 750K and obviously only Taylor can do that

I have faith in her and her label. They are not kidding with her promo, everything seems to be so perfectly planned out. I also think part of her massive selling power with Born This Way is not only because of the hype and because people have been waiting for new material but because she's built a huge fanbase with all this touring and a lot of people like it. All this touring will continue to pay off.

If not 1 million album sales in the US in the first week, then close.

I used to think she couldn't do it. But with all the hype and promo she's having now I think she could sell 1 million the first week, and she's also performing at the American Idol Finale.

Eminem is a HUUUUUGE first-week opener, and he opened with 750K which is pretty impressive. And Taylor Swift has a bigger fanbase than GaGa has (in the US), which go RUSHING to buy her album on the first week. Taylor's fanbase is HUGE. And she passed the 1M mark. I don't think GaGa will. She'll probably sell 700K+. That's very likely.
