So as we all know Nicki was deemed a (marketing) genius on ATRL for abandoning her Gaga-like clothes and hopping on the whole "natural look" trend. Yet her latest single is not top 10 on iTunes in any of the top 50 biggest music markets.

I liked her new song/video and that's all that matter to me

If she doesn't promote anything, yes. If she actually bothered working, she'd be doing well.

While she looks great, Pills N Potions is very underwhelming. I feel as though the songs intention was like for her to have a Rihanna Diamonds moment for herself seeing as how the song is so reflective and mid tempo, but its just dull and soul-less.

Even despite this song being underwhelming, I think she looks good and I think everything else we've heard from her thus far has been promising. So its not like this album is a write off, this is just a lame lead single imo.

Yes, her image is still popular and mainstream but I don't see her music being successful even if her lead single was on par with Roman's Revenged and wasn't PNP.

Isn't that more to do with her returning to her rap/hip hop roots, rather than the generally pop singles from when she was at her mainstream peak? If she wants to smash again she can throw on the rainbow wigs and upbeat bubblegum pop songs again.

Pills N Potions is a good song, but not lead single worthy. If she releases a second single before the album comes out (which looks likely that she will since we don't have details about anything yet) she can recover

I mean, Gaga was deemed over despite the fact that Applause went multiplatinum, #1 on iTunes in over 70 countries and a top 10 hit in 9 out of the 10 biggest music markets in the world. Not to mention that ARTPOP outsold Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded worldwide. Why the lower standards for Nicki?
