I recently gave my notice and coincidentally I'm working my last Friday shift tonight.
From my own experience, the things that prompted me to leave my job were how stressful it is, how I interacted with coworkers, location and my own personal limit.
My job is extremely stressful and the thing is it's just a part time job
A part time job is not supposed to cause so much anxiety and discomfort.
Another thing is my coworkers. When I started in June I was 17 and the youngest one. Everyone was in their late 20s, some even in their 40s. I'm not saying this to be ageist or some **** but it makes a difference. Going into the job you're not going to get respect or be treated as an equal being so young. So you need to decide whether or not you as a person are compatible with the overall community of people at your job because these are the people you spend those 8 hour shifts with
If your coworkers are rude, condescending or whatever it's gonna make your job 10x harder than it needs to be.
Another thing is my job is extremely far from where I live. Getting anywhere in Montreal is a struggle by car because of construction, traffic, etc. so typically I opt to take the metro but this place isn't accessible by metro and only by two busses which - in total - is about 80 minutes of travel. That's 160 minutes per shift to go and come back wasted on transportation
Finally it's my own personal limit. I'm a student and I know I won't be able to keep my job because I can't juggle my social life, being on the honour roll and being apart of a club on top of having a job I have to go to.
Also you need to remind yourself that you shouldn't force yourself to work a job that you hate. I don't know your financial situation so I'm not gonna be like "just quit!!!11!" but if it really makes you that unhappy apply for another one and if you get it, quit your job and transition.
