Hello and welcome to my first Best Of! When I joined ATRL way back in January, the Best Of section was one of the first things I saw. Knowing I couldn't post one until December made the experience all the more tantalizing. I'm so happy to look back on what's been a great year for music and a great year for me on ATRL!
Let's get to the program.
Here are descriptions of each list:
Top 40 of Top 40 - the main event. These are my 40 favorite pop songs of the year. Most of them were hits, but some were moderate or even minor.
Top 30 Rhythmic/Urban Hits - Anything that would get played on rhythmic and/or urban radio but less on pop will go on this list; rap, R&B, etc.
Top 20 Non-Hits - my favorite singles that did not get the success they deserved. Some of these might get that success in 2015, but it's too early to tell.
Top 10 Worst Songs - finally, I get to rant about the dumbest, cheesiest, most horrific songs of 2014.
Honorable Mentions - these are for songs that don't fit into any of the categories above but that I still want to recognize as being among the best songs of 2014.
To prepare these lists, I listened to each song appearing on one a few times and assigned it a fresh new score, ignoring how tired I am of the song or how much I have played it. I did not use last.fm stats because my play statistics are skewed (3x more plays for the 2nd half of the year than the 1st), therefore they would not provide an accurate representation of my favorite songs of 2014.
On weekdays, my updates here will come from approximately 3:15pm - 4:15pm (Eastern Time), with
two exceptions.
Monday, Dec. 15 - updates should come around 8-9pm
Thursday, Dec. 18 - updates should come around 4pm-5pm
On weekends, my updates will always come at around 9:30-10:30am.

If you only feel like perching for my top 10's, you should come here around Christmas Eve. All of the #1s of my lists will be announced on New Year's Eve.
On New Year's Day, the final day of my event, I will use my ratings that I gave each song on my lists to compile my
Official Top 95 Songs of 2014. This will be an all-genre list with no prerequisites.

I realize that the ratings of each songs might cause a bit confusion. On every list (except for the 10 worst), there's a tie- two songs have the same rating out of 10. I simply place the song I like better on top.
