The ARIA Singles Chart has a brand new #1 this week, with US pop star and former ARIA Chart topper Katy Perry taking out the number one spot with her new song ‘ROAR’.
Perry knocks Jason Derulo’s ‘Talk Dirty’ off #1, the US RnB singer now holds the #2 position. ‘ROAR’ is Katy's third number one single in Australia, ‘I Kissed A Girl’ hit the top for an incredible 8 weeks in 2008, whilst 2010’s ‘California Gurls’ was #1 for 4 weeks.
The ARIA chart #1 caps off a big week for Katy, with ‘ROAR’ scoring the 6th largest sales in American chart history with 557,000 digital singles sold, plus a #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Other movers in the chart include Lana Del Rey vs. Cedric Gervaise with ‘Summertime Sadness’ moving from #14 up to #4, Lady Gaga’s ‘Applause’ jumps up from #19 to #11, Jessie J’s ‘It’s My Party’ debuts at #20 and Bastille’s ‘Laura Palma’ moves from #33 up to #26.
Locally, Vance Joy slips back a few places with ‘Riptide’ leaving the top 10 and landing in at #12, Matt Corby’s ‘Resolution’ sits at #23 and Timomatic’s ‘Parachute’ moves back to #24.
