I've been doing some researches lately about the Legal:Illegal music share ratio (Digital Download) in the US and in the World.
The ratio (In the world) is almost 20:1. Which means, only
1 person in
20 people downloads music legally (That's for 2007.)
I think the Ratio changed a bit in the last 3 years since people are more aware of Digital Stores, and the total sales has raised in the last three years.
Even though, I thought it would be cool to
estimate how much songs would have sold totally,
if all of the people bought songs.
So, the Black Eyed Peas '
I Gotta Feeling' sold about 5,600,000 copies digitally in the US.
5,600,000 X 20 =
112,000,000.
IGF sold about 10,000,000 copies worldwide.
10,000,000 X 20 =
200,000,000 Copies. This also excludes many of the Countries who doesn't even have Digital Stores yet.
Umbrella sold 3,000,00 copies in 2007 in the US =
3,000,000 X 20 =
60,000,000
Poker Face sold 5,000,000 copies in the US=
5,000,000 X 20 =
100,000,000.
Usher's OMG sold
217,000 copies this week in the US, But actually, He "sold"
4,340,000 copies.
What's your opinion? Do you download songs illegally? Do you buys songs?
