Streaming to count on UK singles chart on June 29th
Quote:
@RecordOfTheDay We hear that streaming data will be added to the Official UK Singles Chart from 29 June, first combined top 40 chart broadcast on R1 6 July
This could ruin a lot of artist's chances at getting #1, since you can hold back a song and have it peak on release week, whilst if you hold back a song in streaming it seems to usually still take a couple of weeks for it to peak, so sales and streaming will peak on different weeks...
This is a mess, UK singles are very debut oriented and are nothing like the US where a song climbs gradually and gradually. I can't see this working as effectively at all
Is everyone who is against this thinking logically? Think about it, back in 2004 you lot would be the people shouting that Digital Downloads shouldn't be added to CD Sales, how many of those people do you think still hold that opinion?
Streaming is the future and I'm glad the Offical Charts Company is adapting to meet that change.
