Are the inbetween years most important to define a decade?
To be more specific the years 2014, 2015 and 2016 as it was with 2004, 2005 and 2006 or 1994, 1995 and 1996.
Are these years essential to make an artist a superstar and relevant worldwide or do you disagree?
Here are a few examples as a lot of things are groundbreaking for each decade and add to what pop culture was about in each era.
80's
1984: Michael Jackson wrapped up the most successful era by a male artist with 'Thriller'.
Prince rises up to fame with 'Purple Rain'.
1985: Madonna goes on tour for the 1st time (The Virgin Tour).
1986: Madonna releases 'True Blue' and has the best selling album of that year.
90's
1994: 90's icon Kurt Cobain dies at age 27.
Green Day gain major success with their album 'Dookie' (diamond certification) reviving punk mentality.
Mariah's 'Merry Christmas' album is the best sold Christmas album in history with over 15 mio. copies sold.
Michael Jackson marries Lisa Marie Presley.
1995: Oasis release their album 'Morning Glory' with its 90s defining song 'Wonder Wall'.
Michael Jackson releases 'HIStory' - it became the best-selling multiple-album of all-time.
1996: Tupac (2Pac) Shakur dies at age 25.

The Spice Girls emerge on the scene making their debut with 'Wannabe'.
Madonna gives birth to Lourdes.
