Olly Murs has seen off some major competition on this week's Official Albums Chart to score his fourth Number 1 album.
The singer's fifth studio album 24 HRS sold 58,000 across physical, digital and streaming to net his fourth consecutive Number 1 album. Olly's only album to miss the top spot was his debut, self-titled offering which peaked at Number 2.
Olly now joins One Direction with four Number 1 albums, making him the joint most successful X Factor act on the Official Albums Chart.
Finishing in the runner-up spot this week is Emeli Sande with her second studio album Long Live The Angels (2). Emeli's debut album Our Version of Events spent 67 consecutive weeks inside the Official Albums Chart Top 10.

I think it was bound to happen at some point. Female artists are only permitted to have one successful era in the UK before the GP drops them. Cheryl and Adele are the only ones I can think of who have escaped this.

1 Olly Murs 58k
Quote:
Olly Murs is the second X Factor act to score four number ones and also the second act to score four number ones in the 2010s, as his fifth studio album, 24 Hrs, debuts atop the chart on sales of 57,981 copies, including 1,320 from streams.
Murs' fourth album, Never Been Better sold 92,597 copies on debut at No.1 a shade under two years ago. Murs' self-titled debut album opened and peaked at number two nearly six years ago, on sales of 108,212 copies. Right Place, Right Time is Murs' biggest-selling album with a to-date tally of 1,346,573, with In Case You Didn't Know selling 1,105,014 copies, Olly Murs selling 827,376 copies and Never Been Better selling 811,226 copies.

2 Emeli Sandé 47,5k

In a top three which all cleared the 30,000 sales mark for the first time this year, Murs' runner-up is Emeli Sandé, whose second album, Long Live The Angels, sold 47,512 copies on debut, nearly five years after her blockbusting first album, Our Version Of Events stormed to an instant No.1 on sales of 113,319, eventually spending 10 weeks at the summit and 67 weeks in the Top 10, selling 2,305,340 copies to date. Our Version Of Events' initial sales were heightened by Valentine's Day gift buying, and achieved in the wake of one No.2 single (Heaven) and simultaneous with the chart debut of a second (Next To Me). Long Live The Angels' only hit to date, Hurts, peaked at No.22 but rallies 43-36 (14,729 sales) this week.

Well I think it's not that bad for Emeli. She waited 4,5+ years to release her second album, and she still managed to sell almost 50k. She'll probably have longevity
