Rah Digga Says Iggy Azalea is NOT Real & NOT Hip-Hop
The former Flipmode Squad member spoke with ThisIs50, and she was asked about some of her rap peers. After giving a shout out to Remy and suggesting she does a little research about the current music scene, Digga expressed she is not a fan of Iggy.
“Iggy Azalea, I can’t really get into her. Because it’s just not real to me,” explains Digga. “There is a white girl from Australia that spits in an Australian accent, and her name is Chelsea Jane. That I can get into. Teach me Australian Hip Hop culture. Don’t come to America and try to convince me that you’re Gangsta Boo… We’re not going to believe you if you’re trying to convince us that you’re out here trap shooting.”
Digga also supported Nicki’s speech at the BET Awards where the Young Money member seemed to call out rappers that don’t write their own lyrics.
I mean the genre they perform is Rap instead of Hip Hop. Rap music and Hip Hop music are different. People and the media have confused to two over the years. I could go into detail but I have to go to class in a few minutes.
1. Iggy doesn't rap about shooting out the trap.
2. Iggy raps the way she talks, it's not like her rapping vs her talking are two different tones. It's the same, she was in Miami for 4 years before she got signed that also had a lot to do with why she seems so Americanized.
Nobody cared this much about how real she was until fancy started slaying.
The amount of hate she gets though, its almost become cool to hate her
Whatever as long as she's continuing to succeed in what she does ;no amount of hate will take away from her success really
well its quite understandable when you have ppl who don't know **** about the genre/culture or publications that show their ignorance when they call her the Queen and how she's almost eclipsed everyone else
expect backlash when such bold statements are made...the ppl who make up the genre will speak their mind
