I am half white so I can give you a valid response. I sometimes tan, and yes it is in order to darken my skin so I can be at one with my African ancestors.

As a white person. I do know why some of us get tans. It's not good for you. I'm proud of having fair skin. Some of them look horrible too.

I don't understand why one would go as far as to make their skin orange or leathery, but it's all about personal preference.

To add color. One of my ghost friends said she had got one because she didn't like tha fact that everything was so clearly visible. Scars,veins,etc. When i tell you that bitch looked like casper,whew child

well some people are extremely pale to the point that their skin is literally almost white

they feel like it makes them look sickly because they feel like their skin isn't glowing as it should. so they tan.

besides, who wouldn't want beyonce or rihanna's skin tone? its beautiful

When they're too tanned it looks quite ugly

All jersey shores and their fake tans are ugly as hell

It can't be explained as well on the grounds why a black person would bleach their skin.

Sometimes a light tan unavoidable. But people who literally lay out in the sun and fry their skin are insecure. But I doubt they want to be black.

that's another thing. i'm mixed race but my skin is light, so i tan because it somehow fits in with the rest of my looks. and tanned skin makes everything look good! its just the best, IDK why...
