Okay here's the thing. Most of my people (yes, I'm Filipino) prefer light-skinned people because when we were colonized by Spain for 333 years, white characteristics were glorified. And it went on for 300 years. It was instilled into the minds of the Filipino people. You have no idea how much money Filipinos are spending for whitening products. And that's basically why most of my people like pale skinned people. It's not something they consciously decided on. Filipinos like white people because white people trained them to do so. It's not something that can be entirely erased from Filipino culture but there are efforts to change this.
Personally, I do not have a preference for skin color
The worst part is he told me he would never date his own kind or black people because white men are the hottest. Even when I told him I was latino he would say rude things like "Oh you're the hot latino" like wtf is that supposed to mean 
Sis admit it, you're an asian Uncle Tom. Love yourself and stop being a puppet to the white supremacy society.
