KB's (Kay.bee's) 2011 Up In Smoke
So, I contemplated for the longest on whether I was going to do this or not because I'm busy, but a recent turn of events have me smoking some good and reminiscing on the year. I'm pretty new here but my main reason for being here is because, like most people here, music is my. When I'm happy, I blast music. When I'm in love, I indulge in love songs. When I'm sad, I turn to music to help me cope. When I'm horny, there's always a song to listen to when it's about to go down. Music is always there for me, no matter what event is unfolding in my life. With that being said, 2011 has given me a song for pretty much any mood imaginable. One of my best friends died late last night and since I've been home I've been drowning out this nightmare with my iPod. Here I am reminiscing on the good times I had with him and the year as a whole because I've had A LOT of ups and downs. My countdown is not only a reflection of this past year, but on my life as well. I get bored really easily so I'm going to keep it at a reasonable number, 25.
So I guess here's KΔYBΣΣ's 2011 through music, 25-21
25. Skrillex- "First of the Year (Equinox)"
This is the first song I really heard by Skrillex and I felt declined to go listen to the rest of his material and it's sick!
24. Beyonce- "Schoolin' Life"
I mean I'm getting a degree and all, but I love this song. I'm at the point where I'm just living life to the fullest and taking it by storm. There's no right or wrong way to live it, just be prepared to face the consequences.
23. Lil' Wayne- "How To Love"
Lately Lil' Wayne has been getting on my nerves. He's just been too experimental with his sound, but this song hit home, the video and everything. I know exactly how it feels to be driven off the wrong path due to being drawn to the wrong man.
22. Adele- "Rumor Has It"
So this song, I was talking to this guy and I never took it to that point with him because I knew he was a piece of ****. I bumped this so hard for like a month straight while ignoring every single one of his phone calls.
21. The Throne Feat. Frank Ocean- "No Church in the Wild"
Frank Ocean, Kanye, and Jay are pure bliss. The beat, the lyricism, the production, EVERYTHING is impeccable. I'm praying for a video in 2012.
20. Miguel- "Sure Thing"
The first time I heard this song it was because current boyfriend called me and forced me to listen to this song because he said he thinks of me every single time he hears it and now every time I hear it I'm reminded of how amazing what we have is. Miguel has a lot of potential as an artist and he's a breath of fresh air to the R&B scene.
19.Rihanna- "Man Down"
This was always one of my favorite tracks from LOUD, but the music video and how pure and real it was instantly drew me in. I love the emotion Rihanna sings with and her thick Caribbean accent adds a type of authenticity that can't be duplicated.
18. Kelly Rowland- "Motivation"
I was never here for Kelly really, but this is my jam and I still pop my ***** to this day to this song. Ladies, give your man a lapdance to this joint and I swear you can't go wrong. It puts you in a trance and brings out just the right amount of freakiness for a fun filled night.
17. The Band Perry- "If I Die Young"
Oh this song... so heartfelt. It leads you to a place of vulnerability and a bittersweet reality. If I were to die young, tonight, tomorrow... would I have the benefit of saying I conquered each day as my last? It really makes you think. I'm not afraid of death only if I know I went out knowing I lived.
16. M83- "Midnight City"
This song is so mellow and I feel it the most when I'm high... honestly. It's just so cool and laid back and the beat and production is amazing. Everyone, who hasn't already, should give M83 a listen. Not new, of course, but well worth a couple of listens.
#15-11 to be revealed tomorrow!
