All fashion eyes right now are waiting for Monday night's Met Ball, the famous annual New York gala that celebrates the museum's major fashion exhibition, and where designers dress and bring boldface celebrity dates. The $20,000-a-head ticket price goes to maintain the Met's Costume Institute, which was revived by legendary Vogue editor Diana Vreeland in the early 1970s -- and where this year's exhibit and ball are themed "Punk: Chaos to Couture."
Fashion watchers have been wondering how in the hell this ball gown and couture-strewn playground for the rich, famous and society types is going to turn its usual exquisiteness of dress into a scene of punk safety pins, black, leather and plaid (past themes have been "superheros," "the model as muse" and an homage to iconic early 20th century French designer Paul Poiret). This is going to be one fashion theme that will be fun to watch manifest. Particularly considering that everyone knows the party's chairwoman, Vogue's Anna Wintour, despises the color black.
Here's who is going with whom and, of course, who the star will be wearing:

• Valentino is taking Gwyneth Paltrow
• Dior is taking Jennifer Lawrence and Marion Cotillard
• Alexander Wang is taking Julianne Moore for Balenciaga

• Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy are taking Elle and Dakota Fanning
• Joseph Altuzarra is taking Allison Williams
• Brian Atwood is taking Elizabeth Banks
• Christopher Kane is taking Stella Tennant
• Nina Ricci’s Peter Copping is taking Carolyn Murphy
• Diane Von Furstenberg is taking Emma Roberts
• Tory Burch is taking Jessica Alba and Ginnifer Goodwin
• Topshop is taking Jaime King and Julianne Hough
• Kenzo and Opening Ceremony's Humberto Leon and Carol Lim are taking Solange Knowles
• Anthony Vaccarello is taking Gisele Bundchen
• Riccardo Tisci is taking fellow co-chair Rooney Mara
• Burberry is taking (rumored new face) Sienna Miller
• Peter Pilotto is taking Brooklyn Decker
• Samsung is taking Psy (who will undoubtedly be sporting Gangnam punk style)
• Saint Laurent is taking Greta Gerwig
We've also heard that Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are flying in from Milan -- something they rarely do -- to attend the opening party of their new New York midtown store over the weekend, then attending the Met Ball with American Ballet theater international dance star Roberto Bolle, along with Katy Perry and Gerard Butler
