The Muencher Abendzeitung newspaper is reporting that up to 15 people have been killed in the shooting, while the German NTV says 10 people have possibly died.
A witness live-streaming from outside the mall said: "(The gunman) ran into the underground station. Police are looking for him. I don't have a description of the shooter."
An employee who is still inside the shopping centre told Reuters by phone that "many shots were fired".

Official Updates from CNN [x]
Quote:
t least nine people were killed Friday when gunfire erupted at a shopping center in Munich, Germany, in what police officials said "looks like a terror attack."
At least three attackers were on the loose as the city was under a virtual lockdown, with residents being urged to stay home, restaurants and other business closing and public transit shutting down.
Here's what we know so far:
•The shooting broke out at a McDonald's across from the Olympia shopping mall about 5:50 p.m. (11:50 a.m. ET), police spokeswoman Claudia Küntzel said. Gunfire also broke out inside the mall, which is adjacent to the site of the 1972 Olympics, witnesses said.
• On Facebook, police said gunfire was reported in several locations, and that witnesses report seeing three people with firearms.
• "The manhunt is underway at high speed," police said. "Because of the unclear situation we ask all people in the city area to stay at home or to look for protection in any nearby building. The operation of public transportation service has been stopped."
• Police said on Twitter that special forces from Bavaria and surrounding federal states have been brought in as reinforcements.
• Nine bodies have been found in or around the Munich shopping center, police said at a press conference. Police are trying to verify whether one of these bodies could be one of the shooters, Munich police tweeted.
• A witness who will only be identified as Lauretta told CNN her son was in a bathroom with a shooter at the McDonald's. "That's where he loaded his weapon," she said. "I hear like an alarm and boom, boom, boom... And he's still killing the children. The children were sitting to eat. They can't run." Lauretta said she heard the gunman say, "Allahu Akbar," or God is great. "I know this because I'm Muslim. I hear this and I only cry."
Two Munich subway lines (U1, U3) and several bus lines in Munich are experiencing interruptions because of the police operations around the shopping mall, MVG (Munich Transport Corporation) said. Officials expect the interruptions to continue for a few more hours.

"The perpetrator was an 18-year-old German-Iranian from Munich," police chief Hubertus Andrae told reporters after the massacre.
He had lived in the city "for a while", Mr Andrae said.
Mr Andraes said that the body of the attacker was found about two and half hours after the shooting began.
His identity was determined based on the evaluation of witness statements and closed circuit television.
The body was found in a side street, not far from the shopping mall where much of the shooting happened.
Speculation about the gunman's motives ranged from a right-wing extremist attack to an assault inspired by Islamic State.
Some witnesses describe hearing him yelling anti-foreigner insults before opening fire outside the fast food restaurant.
In a later conversation with a witness, recorded on a mobile phone, the attacker says he is a German citizen.
As another female witness said the gunman was chanting 'Allahu Akbar', being muslim herself.
Other media reported that the gunman had been bullied for "several years" and was seeking revenge.
Two others who fled the area quickly were investigated but had "nothing to do with the incident".
Ten people, including the gunman, were killed.

At least 16 people, including several children, were in hospital and three were in critical condition, Andrae said.

Kosovan media reported that three of the victims were of Kosovan origin. Naim Zabergja, the father of one of the victims wrote on Facebook: "With great sadness I want to inform you that my son Dijamant Zabergja, 21, was killed yesterday in Munich."
A second victim was named by her brother on Facebook as Armela Segashi, who he said died along with a third, Sabina Sulaj.
Friday's incident snarled traffic as authorities blocked highways, closed the main railway station, and shut down public transport.
Thousands of people had been crowding the streets and squares in Munich's city center on Friday for a beer festival.
"There were a few people who came running towards us who were screaming and in panic. But mostly it was surprisingly calm," said Elena Hakes, who had been with a friend in the Odeonsplatz square.

Munich shooting: German Iranian Teenage killer Ali Sonboly was 'depressed' and 'used Facebook offer of free McDonald's food to lure victims'
Reports have named Ali David Sonboly as the 18-year-old gunman who killed 9 people in a shooting spree at a McDonalds and shopping centre in Munich last night.
The taxi driver's son had both German and Iranian citizenship and had been born and raised in the city before last night's rampage after which he shot himself dead.
He used an illegal Glock 9mm pistol and had 300 rounds of ammunition when he went on what police have called a "classic shooting rampage".
'He was a quiet guy'
Neighbors of the attacker told German media that he was a "quiet guy."
"He lived right next to me," German newspaper Bild quoted a neighbor as saying.
"A friend of mine went to school with him and said he was rather a quiet guy. He recognized him from the videos from the scene."
Police commandos, armed with night vision equipment and dogs, raided an apartment in the Munich neighborhood of Maxvorstadt early on Saturday where Bild said the gunman lived with his parents.
|
Quote:
Events unfolded as he exited the bathroom of McDonald's
In footage he was seen bursting from a McDonald's restaurant toilet before opening fire on children he reportedly screamed 'Allahu Akbar' before shooting them at close range.
He then pushed through the front doors into the street and carried on shooting, killing at least one pedestrian whose body was later pictured covered on the ground.
Witnesses reportedly heard the man, who appeared in the footage to be carrying a red Pokemon rucksack, screaming: “Ich bin Deutsch, scheiss Ausländer” – “I’m German, f*** foreigners” before opening fire.
|
Quote:
Posing as a teenage girl called 'Selina Akim', Sonboly is thought to have used messages posted on a fake Facebook account to lure young victims to their death with fraudulent offers of free food just hours before his murderous rampage began.
|
Quote:
"Nearly" all of the victims are aged between 14 and 21, according to TZ.
One victim is understood to be an 18-year-old Turkish man who came to Munich from Greece, and three others are believed to be of Albanian origin.
Hero who 'died trying to save his sister'
According to a freelance journalist who was speaking to BBC 5 Live, the man was shot twice outside the McDonald's.
He is said to have pushed his sister away as the gunman opened fire in an apparent attempt to save her.
His father reportedly suffered a heart attack after hearing of his son's death and was taken to hospital.
Zabergja Dijamant, 21, from Kosovo
A 45-year-old woman and a 15-year-old girl were also said to be among the victims.
Three of the victims are of Kosovan-Albanian origin according to Facebook posts by family members, but their identities are yet to be confirmed.

"Obvious link" between Anders Breivik and Munch shooter - police
Police say there is an "obvious link" between the Munich shooter and extreme right-wing terrorist Anders Breivik, the man behind the 2011 Norway massacre at a children's camp which left eight dead.

'Books about shooting rampages' found in terrorists bedroom
Bavaria's police chiefs adds that a book about "shooting rampages" was found in the suspect's bedroom.
He says the victim was "depressed" and had received psychiatric treatment.
He was not known to police before the attack, he said, and used an unlicensed Glock pistol to kill his victims.
|
Quote:
Killer's parents 'too shocked to help with investigation'
According to Bavaria's chief of police, the killer's parents were in a state of shock and unable to give much information for the investigation.
He added that the suspect did not leave a suicide note.

Quote:
Gunman's father questioned by police
The father of the gunman is currently being interviewed by German police, according to local media.
Police spokesman Peter Beck said they will "examine everything" as part of their investigation and "don't yet know what triggered the crime".

Killer 'complained of being bulled for seven years'
German commandos last night raided the fourth-floor apartment home Sonboly shared with his parents on Dachauer Strasse, in the Munich suburb of Maxvorstadt, just two miles from where he killed nine people and injured 21.
Three people remain in a critical condition.
Neighbours have described Sonboly as a ‘quiet guy’, who had apparently been living in Munich for at least two years.
His body was found roughly half a mile from the scene of yesterday’s shooting. He is understood to have shot himself after fleeing.
on his backpack was a book called "Amok im Kopf: Warum Schüler töten".
This translates roughly as: "Amok in the head: Why students kill"
|
Quote:
Why did he do it?
Information, again, is yet to fully emerge about the reasons behind the teenager's gun attack, but pro-ISIS Twitter accounts have been widely celebrating the attack with some suggestions that the group has taken credit for it.
Germany has been on high alert since Afghan refugee Muhammad Riyad went on an axe rampage on a train in Bavaria before being shot dead by police.
Racial tensions in the country have increased since the arrival of an estimated 1.2m refugees over the past 12 months with far right parties gaining in support.

What's the saddest thing about all of this is, none of these shootings surprise us anymore.
