Lauren Aquilina is a British pop artist from Bristol, England. Currently living in London planning the release of her first album through Island Records, a division of Universal Music Group (Justin Bieber, Florence, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Tove Lo, Demi Lovato).
She released her first three EPs: 'Fools', 'Sinners', and 'Liars' between 2012 and 2014 when she was unsigned. They are piano driven, singer/songwriter-pop ballads. Her music was featured on Hollyoaks, with her first independent single 'Fools' appearing in a few episodes.
Her cover of 'Time To Say Goodbye' appeared on adverts for the final season of Downton Abbey in 2015. Her most recent EP 'Ocean' has a slightly different sound to the first three as her music transitions to more of a pop sound with focus on synths, vocal effects and beats.
She's been on many people's radars, including Taylor Swift, who tweeted her saying that she enjoyed her Fools EP, then invited her to play at her tour date at Hyde Park in 2015. Lauren released a standalone promotional song 'Echoes' in December 2015. Having just finished touring alongside Jamie Lawson, Lauren is adding the final touches to her highly anticipated debut album.
She performed four new album songs: 'Midnight Mouths', 'Kicks', 'Hurt Any Less' and 'How Would You Like It?" at an album preview gig in Hoxton Hall, London on January 28th 2016. She's tipped off to be one of the future hit artists of 2016.
“I’d always loved pop music but I’d always been too scared to make it because I thought it wasn’t credible or whatever. I’ve always written my own songs. I didn’t really know how to write a pop song. I just decided to go for it. There’s gonna be two more singles. The first one of which I’m planning a music video for and everything now - very exciting. There will be at least two more singles before the album comes out.”
Her debut single 'Midnight Mouths' is expected in the following months, followed by her highly-anticipated debut album which is due to be released with Island/Universal in early [sic] 2016. It’s sure to be a record that we’ll all be very familiar with in years to come.
