earlier today Def Jam artist Terius Nash, aka The-Dream, alluded to his inability to be involved with Ciara as her new label/team doesn't allow it for whatever reasons. The-Dream was heavily involved in Ciara's last effort, Basic Instinct, which flopped horribly with first week sales around 37k. Needless to say that LA Reid, the one supervising the new Ciara project, wants to start fresh with a new writing/producing team (or camp?). On his twitter The-Dream RT'd the following:
Quote:
@MrTeriusNash U give her good records but she didn't choose them as singles she only released Ride"
Of course the idea of payola is nothing new to conspiracy-making stans but now we have a comment from someone in the industry. Thoughts? Disputes? Who or what is he shading?
This isn't shocking.... This is why, I don't understand why people are still requesting songs in 2011? What's the point? Payola is on the rise.
I think it became too obvious in 2010 and 2011.
Katy Perry, LMFAO, Pitbull, and Rihanna have taken it to a whole new level.
And we all know Adeles label uses it, they had her music on every tv show the CW played in 2010.
I am now led to believe all of DEF JAM uses payola.....
This should come as no shock though.
Most major labels use it, the thing is it has now gotten out of control.
No one is even trying to hide it anymore, look at iTunes vs Airplay.

People will result in saying anything just because their fave isn't slaying radio...smh
