Lila Perry, a Hillsboro High School senior and transgender student, spoke on Monday with reporters as Blayke Childs (back) offered his opinion after a student walkout at Hillsboro High School over Perry’s request to use the girls bathrooms and locker rooms rather than a unisex faculty bathroom.

Lila Perry said she wants to be treated like other female students and told school administrators that she wasn’t content in continuing to use a unisex faculty bathroom this year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

My college has gender mutual bathrooms. Doesn't quite resolve the issue but it helps, a lot.

The reason I think is because dirty men will end up putting on a wig to so they can be "accepted" to go into a girls bathroom, which is a shame. Maybe there's ways around it.. But if the person identify's as a girl then they should be allowed into the bathroom

We had this at my school. I went to an all boys school and there was a trans girl which is obviously very hard when you go to a single sex school and you don't identify as male. I think she was allowed to use the female staff toilets and I know she was already having hormone injections at the end of her time at school.

Some people were so weird about it though, like she isn't using the boys toilets which you are using so how does this affect you

there was a trans girl* in my high school and there was drama about her using the girls bathroom. I was a freshman and she was a senior, and the senior girls had a problem with it. tbh I don't remember what happened but none of the teachers/faculty got involved (and def not a news crew). I think they settled it amongst themselves.

personally I think it's ok because it's more dangerous to be in the boys' bathroom. I know the guys at my school would NOT have any trans person in their bathroom without getting violent about it.

*idk how that person actually identified though. male, looked female, used girls' bathroom, that's all I knew
