Obviously, its hard for her to breakthrough with the right material and most record labels turned her down until Columbia signed her...she wrote Fight Song at the lowest times of depression and musical career, but the song not only gave her strength not to give up, and finally recognition.
Her story kind of makes me sad. Like, 12 years is so long to try, fail, try, fail, try, fail etc. I mean she's 34 now, it's a miracle she's gotten a hit this big, but it's VERY unlikely that she'll get anything more than this one song now. I just don't see it for her. But congrats regardless.
