213 dead, 200> injured after car bombs in Baghdad, Iraq

The death toll from two car bombs in Baghdad has gone up to 80, Iraqi officials said.
The first explosion occurred in a busy commercial street in the central neighborhood of Karrada, killing 79 people and wounding 133 others, police said.
Firefighting crews rescued injured and trapped people in adjacent buildings.
The second bomb exploded in an outdoor market in the Shaab neighborhood of southeastern Baghdad, killing one and wounding five, police said.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the Karrada attack in a statement posted on Twitter. The group said it was targeting Shiite neighborhoods. Karrada and Shaab are predominately Shiite.

A second bomb also exploded at about midnight in a predominantly Shia area north of the capital, killing another five people.

At least 213 people were killed in Sunday's Baghdad suicide bombing claimed by Daesh extremists, officials said, making it one of the deadliest ever militant attacks in Iraq.
The suicide car bombing, which ripped through a crowded shopping area and sparked infernos in nearby buildings, also wounded more than 200 people, security and medical officials said on Monday.
Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi announced three days of national mourning for the victims as he visited the site of the attack, and his office said he had vowed to “punish” the perpetrators.
He also ordered changes to Baghdad security measures in response to the bombing, which security officials said killed at least 119 people and wounded more than 180.
